Inntel Hotel Zaandam Netherlands opened in 2010 and is a real eye stopper. The 4 star hotel which opened next to the Zandaam train station looks like a pile of houses stacked on top of each other. They were designed to look like traditional dutch houses. Almost 70 houses were stacked in four shades of the traditional green of the zaan region.

The Hemloft was created by a Canadian called Joe Allen. Joe was initially a Software Developer who decided to retire and take on carpentry. The project was self funded and built on crown land (government owned) in Canada. It hangs on a precipitous slope about 5 minutes from the nearest road.
